Matt 27:62-66
62 The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 63 “Sir,” they said, “we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ 64 So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first.”
65 “Take a guard,” Pilate answered. “Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how.” 66 So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.
On the Saturday after the death of Jesus, He was not physically present. He was very dead! There was no fellowship as before, and it must have felt like one of the most hopeless days for those who had followed Jesus.
The pharisees did not make it any better by claiming that Jesus' disciples might go steal His body. In fact, they got orders to keep the tomb safely guarded.
This could be what you feel today in the situations you are passing through and are consistently wondering why God is not acting or coming through. In fact it may feel like your enemies are working harder to shut out God's goodness from your life.
You probably have friends who are trying to convince you that you are walking in sin like Job's friends did when he was in utter sorrow having lost everything. Some might have probably given up on you.
In this dark time, don't give up. Hold on.
Don't get tired of lifting your head to the hills and turning to God who is our help. Psalm 121 is a good place to encourage yourself from and trust God again.
Ps 27:14
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
Ps 30:5
5 For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Hold on.
