Prov 3:9 Honor the Lord with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
1 Cor 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Why honour God?
He owns us
1 Cor 6:18-20
18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.
19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
I should use my body to please God because I have been bought at a price. God's view is that when we commit sexual sin we sin against ourselves. In doing so, we sin against the bodies that God has given us, that He owns. Flee from immorality.
Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, He dwells in us.
He honours those who honour Him
1 Sam 2:30 “Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.
God assures us that He will bestow honour on those who honour Him, and those who don't honour Him attract disdain against themselves.
He is a mighty God and a judge
Rev 14:7 He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
When we begin to understand that God is our loving Father and the same time a judge, when we look around us to behold the greatness of who He is and beholding Him in His majesty, then we come before Him in reverence awe.
